** In This Together **
NRW is celebrated every year from 27 May to 3 June and is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The dates of 27 May to 3 June commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the 1967 Referendum acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the High Court Mabo decision, respectively.
A significant step in Icon’s Reconciliation process was the creation of Barpa in partnership with the Federation of Victorian Traditional Owner Corporations. Through Barpa we provide employment and opportunities to Indigenous Australians and Indigenous owned businesses nationally.
Over the past 4 years Barpa has spent over $10m on Indigenous engagement and continues to grow with projects being completed in all the states and territories around Australia.
Barpa is proudly acknowledging National Reconciliation Week.
Icon Group acknowledges the Traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Owners of the land, sea and waters of the Australian continent, and recognises their custodianship of culture and Country for over 60,000 years.
We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and celebrate the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ongoing cultures and connections to the land.
