Tweed Heads Police Station

The existing Police Station was decommissioned and staff were re-located to the new Station, which was built on an old shopping complex site. Designed by Gardner Wetherill and managed by BGIS, it forms part of a rollout of several new Police Stations by the NSW Government.The Ground floor of the building houses police vehicles and storage facilities while the First and Second Floors consist mostly of office space including private offices and open plan work environments for staff. A custodial area with charge docks and cells was also part of the build. The project involved the demolition of an existing building on a site that has several businesses and buildings in close proximity. Throughout the project, it was important to maintain regular communication with the surrounding businesses to ensure that there was as little disruption to their day to day operations as possible. Special effort was be taken by the site team in order to control noise and dust in particular. Police relocated from the old station facility on Recreation Street an increased number of police officers on patrol around the Tweed Heads area. This is the second Police Station delivered by Cockram for the NSW Government with the $17M Liverpool Police Station being delivered by the NSW team in 2016.
